MER Clinic: Steel Mill Facilities and Layout Designs

Presented by John Glaab @ MER Raleigh 2011

The second of a series of clinics on steel mills: arrangements of mill facilities and a discussion on layout designs. Building a steel mill on your railroad can be a daunting task. Questions about space, era and operation need not be stumbling blocks. The use of selective compression, using flats, selecting the type and era of mill that will fit in your space can be a pleasant and educational experience. Examples of how to logically compress designs, build flats, kitbash structures and rolling stock, and explaining the logical flow of materials will be examined.
